With varying degrees of seriousness and humor I attempt to re-examine and stretch the viewer’s process of perception. As a filmmaker, framing is essential to the composition of each shot – but more generally, could be accurately summed up as an ongoing process of framing/editing. I consider both the implicit cultural and historical frames beyond the visible borders of the image's frame, and how we receive our sensory impressions.
My college and grad school education did not include a single a woman to serve as a role model so I make films about the areas most important to me - women, art and healthy aging. As they share their experiences with my viewers, they also in a way speak for me.
